ad f? Gulls on CLS, close to blind - not 100% in fading light, but probable, go take a look. Very close match to ad fem Caspian Gull (one of 25+ ad Herring-type gulls), not a screaming obvious male. Manic bathing. Very good P10 pattern both sides, near-white tongue on inner web, narrow transverse black band meeting black outer web, white tip longer than black band was wide. Underwings showed limited black in narrow crescent band traversing primaries. Dark mark on outer edge of gonys spot, dark eye, but appeared adult.

1w. Present on my arrival at this time, showing very well near / on the promontory to 16:08 when most of the larger gulls were flushed. The latter happened again at 16:12 and 16:28, the bird however not returning by 16:39, unlike many of the LBBG's and B-HG's.

1w. Extremely elegant bird, a swan amongst gulls. Rather dark on coverts and lower scaps, but upper mantle clear grey, with clean white head and fine bill. Also a probable adult, but hunkered down at back of flock (P10 checked ok).

1w. Very obvious, clearly marked bird at southern end of BSL. Spent half hour+ washing and generally being aggressive to other gulls. Large individual, bill has a distinct white fleck on each side of the upper mandible near the tip, which was all dark, becoming paler towards the base. Flew off 14:19 towards tip, but may have gone to Lea Farm Lake/Scrape.

1w. With ~200 gulls on flooded meadows, viewed from entrance to Thames Water site. Very white head, sharply defined "shawl" of streaking on nape and neck sides, slim dark bill.

ad. Smallmead GP 12:40 until 13:30, flew into Landfill. Seen in SE corner of water with scope down to < 50 m. Adult, pure white head, mid-grey mantle with no obvious white mantle crescent. Dark brown eye with red eye-ring, pale yellow bill long, but not exceedingly long, faded red gonys spot. All white tip to underside of P10, white tongue along outer web of under P10, leaving black bar separating tip (narrower than tip). Grey tongues projecting into black on upper primaries. Legs pale yellow and long (in flight), but feet pinkish. Was extremely settled (sleeping for 30 minutes) but all gulls disturbed at 13:30; CG headed into landfill to N of Smallmead pit.

ad. in roost with 3000 LBBG (plus one ad Yellow-legged and one ad Herring). Quite obvious on size and structure with long, dull yellow bill, sloping forehead and especially long rear end and primary projection. Primary pattern not (quite!) seen clearly enough to be 100% sure. Present until 16:00 when all gulls were disturbed. Not relocated when they settled again. Worth looking out for...!
