	1 in Berks section of first reed bed from Lake rd CP, 2 in Bucks. All 3 took flight and circled mainly over Berks, calling before appearing to fly west into Bucks and up the Jubiee River.

16:45	A definite three with a possible fourth. Two seen climbing the reeds in the first reedbed from the carpark at 16:45. Plenty of light to look for more! A third was then seen climbing the reeds in West Marsh. None seen in East Marsh. On returning to view the first reedbed one Bittern was seen flying strongly upstream (East) into the far distance. Then another (fourth?) was seen flying across the river from the northbank. Two silhouettes could be seen in the darkness but too dark to relocate the one in West Marsh.(Seen with DJH).

16:45	Cleanly marked bright bird to middle left, second much darker bird flew in 16:54 from right landing above reed mace heads (seen with Peter Gipson & Manish Dighe).

15:15	On entering Teal Hide at this time the Bittern was standing outide the reedbed, in front of the martin bank. It remained on show to 15:25 before gradually moving back in to the reeds. Also present from here were a vocal Water Rail, five Shoveler, five Gadwall, ten Teal, a Pochard, five Tufted Duck, two Mallard and two Little Grebe.

08:30	On a fishing trip to Barton Court, I flushed (almost trod on!) a bittern from a reedbed in the meadow next to the station. It flew downriver, over the road, and appeared to drop into the next meadow. Also reed bunting, red kite, buzzard, kingfisher, raven (x2), kestrel, tawny owl - but no cettis warbler.
