fem. First spotted by Noel Silver as it flew in from the west and seen for a few seconds over the new workings being mobbed by Lapwings and Crows. It dropped down out of sight in the Fen area. Watched the area for 25 minutes before it took flight and got the attention of Lapwings and Crows again. Good views of bird, but brief as it circled around and left northward gaining height. Please only view from the public footpath.

A brief sighting of what could only be a marsh harrier at Barton Court (while fishing) - one of the local buzzards took exception and saw it off before I could get a 100% identification. Topped an amazing day - water rail (heard), snipe, red kite, buzzard, kestrel, treecreeper, dabchick, tawny owl, little egret, nuthatch, reed bunting, GS and green woodpecker......and the fishing wasn't bad, either!
