Whitley fast becoming Reading's winter starling capital. Best display of all at dusk today, impossible to count. At least one large flock (for Reading) of 1000 birds and half a dozen smaller flocks of 200 each. Biggest flock roosts in small patch of ornamental firs in residential area. The air was thick with them today - spectacular!
