Latest instalment in the Warfield Whooper Swan saga! Bird by lake at Warfield House (private) clearly saw legs but no ring. In all probability one of the two ferals seen by me and Doug Dodds but at this time of year could be a different wild one; the plot thickens.

Escape
Photo now uploaded in Berks Birds photo section with caption. We've of course established (beyond reasonable doubt) that these birds are kept somewhere locally (we think we may know where) but its lovely to see these two "escape" and feed from this field every so often, anyway. EDIT - I should say as these beautiful birds are effectively "kept", this is the last time I will report them. DMD.

Escape
Just like M.Whittaker last May, astounded to see two adults (not one adult one juv like last May) whoopers sat in the middle of a field, behind Moss End Garden Village but clearly visible from Wellers Lane. Took a few photos with my phone, went home to get a larger camera, but by 1845... the two were nowhere to be seen. EDITED on Monday 4th April - after a little research with a few un-named experts 'round here, I can confirm that these two birds are feral (or escapees if you like), almost certainly the same two birds as Mark Whitaker saw in the same field in May last year and almost certainly re-introduced to a(n un-named) private lake in the very near vicinity a few years ago, but not wing-clipped. So... not late migrants as I'd optimistically hoped but of course, hidden ferals quite literally spreading their wings every so often.
