29/06/23Black-tailed GodwitEton Wick20L G Evans
ad. A flock of 20 adult Icelandic Black-tailed Godwits arrived on the Dorney Common flood at about 10am and remained throughout the early afternoon. At 2pm, they were disturbed by a passing Red Kite, and flew high east, moving over the Berkshire Eton Wick pool for a short period before returning. They then spent nearly ten minutes flying high west into Berkshire, almost reaching Maidenhead, before returning all the way back to the pool at 2.10pm. Following an unsuccessful attack by an LBBG on two baby Coots, they did finally depart west along the Jubilee River at 3pm. They were part of a very early widespread movement south of adults across the Midlands and East Anglia.
